About $40 million were invested this year to renovate the Southland Park Gaming and Racing. The refurbishing was planned after a referendum that took place on November 8th 2005 allowed electronic games of skill in racing tracks.

Dinning, meeting and gaming areas have been added to Southland plus 603 slot machines. Twelve video blackjack tables Digital 21 are available as well as video poker machines, forty of which are Texas Hold’em Poker machines.

The venue incorporates local materials like fieldstone from Fayetteville and counters and bar tops were made with seven different types of marble. The floors are covered with multi-color tiles and carpets.

The complex also features a sports bar called Juke Joint. It includes plasma screen televisions and can hold up to 150 people. The buffet, which has 280 seats, offers Italian, Asian and American food as well as a dessert bar.
